Date night?! What's that?? Since having my daughter I haven't had the opportunity to go on many of these (as I'm sure many of you can relate). But on the rare occasion when we do get out of the house... and are kid free...I love finding new & unique places to relax, grab some drinks and stuff my face ;) Here are a couple of my favorites and a couple I have been dying to try!
Birdsall House
970 Main Street
Peekskill NY
Craft beer and great (locally sourced!) food. This bar has a great vibe, it just makes you feel good! We went for my husband's birthday over the summer and had such an awesome time! We decided to sit outside since it was beautiful out, they have a great patio and a small beer garden with picnic tables! First, the beer...I'm not the most knowledgeable girl when it comes to beer...but my husband is a beer guru and quite enjoyed the selection on craft beers. Now their food, drooooool, so yummy and did I mention it's all locally sourced! They get all their meat from Hemlock Hill Farms in Cortlandt Manor, I love that! Everything on their menu looked delicious, I ended up going with the grilled cheese and chili, not just your plain, boring grilled cheese by any means. Melted cheddar with caramelized onions on thick organic bread, ugh, makes me hungry just thinking about it! I can't wait to go back!
Peekskill Brewery
47-53 South Water Street
Peekskill NY
Another Peekskill gem, right on the riverfront! I was so excited when I found out about this small brewery/pub. The atmosphere is upscale casual, the staff is so friendly, we have always gotten great service! We've had so many things from the menu that I wouldn't even know what to recommend...everything's tasty, big portions! Try one of their in-house beers or some of their hard apple cider! This place makes for a fun date night for sure. They moved to a bigger location down the street recently, I haven't made it to the new location...but I've heard it's fabulous! They now have the brewery with a bar on the first floor and the restaurant with another bar on the second floor...it sounds like their new location is making big impressions and I'm looking forward to visiting!
TRUCK
391 Old Post Rd
Bedford NY
Anyone who knows me, knows I love Mexican! Tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos...if it were possible to eat them for dinner every night, I would. That is why I am thrilled to have found this southwestern inspired restaurant in Bedford NY! The location used to be a rest stop for truckers (hence the name) and has a casual, comfortable feel with lots of vintage touches. Their food is locally sourced and the prices are great. Don't forget to try one of their house margaritas made with top quality, 100% agave tequila!
Pour
241 Main St.
Mt. Kisco NY
Located in a 19th Century Victorian house, this wine bar looks divine. This dimly lit, cozy space looks like it would be perfect for a date or girls night out. I've heard nothing but great reviews and am looking forward to trying it out for myself. They offer a large (expertly selected) drink menu. The food menu is not huge, however contains delicious finger foods.
So, who's hungry?! ;)

Hidden Gem: Muscoot Farm
This quaint, former gentleman's farm is a must visit if you have young kids (even if you don't!). The hudson valley has many farms, but Muscoot is one of my favorites!
This small working farm in Katonah, NY feels like it was made for children with all the activities and easy to walk terrain (it's pretty stroller friendly...however, be aware that all the paths are dirt and can get muddy!). It's one of my favorite places to go and let me toddler get some energy out! They have pretty much every farm animal you could ask for; cows, horses, goats, sheep, ducks, etc. My daughter loves the giant pigs! I think it's great that she is able to get up close to so many different animals.
The farm also offers many workshops and events (many of them are free!). In the fall they have events such as pumpkin picking, hayrides and The Boo Walk (a free scavenger hunt for kids!). Spring, they have sheep shearing (Mother's Day) and a farmers market (every Sunday from May-Oct.). Check out their calendar to see all the fun events!

When it's a nice day we love to take a picnic to enjoy (they have many picnic tables...we like the one by the ducks the best!). They also have their own small food stand to buy food and drinks. No better way to spend a gorgeous sunny day! There are also several hiking trails and don't forget to take a peek inside the original barns! Muscoot Farm has certainly become a favorite place in our family, I hope you'll take a trip there to discover it for yourselves!
K and one of the horses, Crystal, having an "aww" moment :)

Westchester Living
A 20-something year old mommy and army wife, living up in Westchester NY (more specifically, Northern Westchester)
Being a new girl in town can be tough! Trying to make new friends, find new hangouts. I'm always searching for fun things to do...especially with my toddler. I have been searching for a blog or some other online source with events/things to do in good ol' Northern Westchester...but haven't had much luck. So I'm starting my own!
Here I'll post about events, hidden gems and daily life here in the burbs'
